CARY’S CORNER – JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED

FALL 2011

When I was in High School I hurt my shoulder playing baseball.  My mom dragged me to a doctor to have it checked out.  The Doctor determined there was nothing seriously wrong with it. He gave me some pills, a long list of exercises to do and told me not to play baseball for two weeks.

A few months later I returned to see the Doctor because my shoulder still hurt.  The Doctor asked, “Did you take your pills?”

I replied, “No.”

Then the Doctor asked, “Did you do your exercises as I asked?”

I replied, “No.”

Finally the Doc asked if I had stopped playing baseball.

Again I replied with an honest, “No.”

The Doctor looked at me with a sly grin and with a TON of sarcasm said, “Well that is why your shoulder still hurts!”

He was right.  I did not do what the doctor had ordered.  If I had followed the doctors directions, my shoulder would have no longer hurt.  That day I learned that if you don’t follow directions you will rarely get the results you want.

Now I am not a doctor and I don’t even play one on TV, but I occasionally feel like that doctor that looked at my shoulder.  He had taken his time to come up with a plan to help me. As much as I wanted to point the finger at the doctor for my shoulder still hurting, I had to take the blame because I did not follow directions.

At ClassicLawns we work very hard to give you the prescription for a fantastic and healthy lawn.  We leave notes on invoices, provide newsletters with instructions and we are always available by phone, e-mail and on the web.  We understand that with our Midwest weather you can do everything right and still not get the results you want, but we also have learned that if you don’t follow directions you will rarely get the results you want.

Please call me with any questions or if I can help you with anything, Doctor’s orders.  Thanks!
